New Partner

As of 1 August Hobsons has acquired the Nottingham office of Leicestershire based accountants Newby Castleman. Partner Stuart Foster and his team will join us in the Nottingham office.

Stuart says "After spending twenty seven years of my working life at Newby Castleman, moving to Hobsons will be a huge change. The time was right for the move however, and I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues and friends at Hobsons. I have been aware of their excellent reputation in the city for many years, and feel that their business philosophy and strong commitment to clients will prove an excellent match to my own. It will allow me to carry on looking after my clients and staff from a secure Nottingham base."

Managing partner, Jim Scully, comments "We have known Stuart for many years and are delighted to welcome him on board. He will bring a wealth of experience to the practice along with high quality staff and clients. In the financial climate in which we all currently operate, it's good to have a positive story."

Promotion

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Katy Ward to Associate in the practice. Katy has acted as number two to Monica Szolin-Jones, in Newark, for a number of years and has gradually been taking on more responsibility. This promotion recognises the high regard with which Katy is held at Hobsons.

Retirement

After nearly two years as a partner with Hobsons, Malcolm Ellison has decided the time is right to take stock and reassess his work life balance. He will be stepping down as a partner and leaving the practice effective 31 July. A number of the staff who joined us with Malcolm remain and will continue to assist us in looking after his former clients. We wish Malcolm good wishes for whatever he intends to do in the future.
